Language schools :)

Hey,

This may have been talked through over and over again, BUT I am wanting to start learning german properly and would like to read your opinions on schools and methods.

I am currently considering Migro (suprise!) we got also some bespoke learning option at my place of work, UBS.

Please help fellow expat what is the best place to go and shovel some language skill into my empty brain :)

80% of the people meet go, like me, to Alemania at Albisriederplatz, it's relatively good value but it depends on the teacher you get.

Hi Wojciech

Did you find a good german course at the end?

I am arriving in May and i am also considering the migros ;-)

The ideal would be to start with a lunch course...

I was in alemania. I confirm the good value for money and, yes, it depends on the teacher.

Now I'm attending lessons in bellingua (www.bellingua.ch). I find it much better, if you are really motivated. Otherwise leave it... it would just be frustrating.

Hey,

I did German lessons at Migros and those were good, I think it depends a lot of your teacher. Viel spass beim lernen :)

hi there, i have come to understand that frequency is the main thing. even more important than the reputation or name of a school. one hour per week simply isn't enough unless u have some (German speaking) friends to converse with on a regular (!) basis. a friend of mine who is himself a student offers informal (individual) conversation during lunchbreak or after work. u might want to consider something like that ... best regards ;-)
