You can access the bbc iplayer by paying 9chf per month for it, which is what the bbc charges to watch the programes.

you can also register your Itunes account with a UK address then use that to download the bbc iplayer app.

I havent yet found a decent VPN providor that works well with UK programmes.

So I downloaded tunnelbear - had a number of good reviews online. I Switched it on and now I am unable to connect to any websites at all.

I have tried using IE11, chrome and Firefox and they all state when loading any internet page that it has timed out. Any idea how to fix? Or failing that recommend a computer repair shop?

many thanks!

did you try re booting your router? turn it off, remove plug for 30sec and power it back on... Maybe your local IP address is confliciting with their servers.

this one is free you may want to try it out: http://www.hotspotshield.com/

otherwise try IPVanish or VyprVPN; arround 10 bucks a month each

Yeh I turned it off and unistalled it. Still didn't work. I think the new windows 8.1 has an issue with VPN providers. Seems a number of people have had an issue.

I had the same question a few days ago but found this article, https://securethoughts.com/3-best-vpns-for-bbc-iplayer/ which helped me find a VPN that works.  Just thought I'd leave it in this thread in case anyone else comes for this very purpose.

Very helpful thread,
I am a VPN user and usually use VPN to access geo-restricted website,
I was a user of pure VPN, and I had one of the bad experience with PureVPN, but now I am using ExpressVPN and thanks to this source: https://www.reviewsdir.com/fastest-vpn-services/ for helping me in choosing Express.

No doubt VYPRVPN is good but it due to recent controversies it is become hard to trust on VYPRVPN so I recommend choosing IPVanish or NordVPN
