Where can I buy nice yet reasonably priced Furniture, besides Ikea?
I heard furniture sales are in July or so, each year, but in the mean time......Any ideas or suggestions on where to go to buy furniture that isn't really expensive...?Nice, cool, stylish furniture? Where do i go besides Ikea?Need a new bed, sofa, and dinning table etc...I just move to Zurich, so i have no idea.

No expert but in my mind I have built up a heirarchy:

Brockenhaus (one on Steinstrasse in Wiedikon and another near Hardbrucke) = 2nd hand, v. cheap, but probably won't find what ur looking for

IKEA = cheap

Interio = not so cheap but probably OK for some stuff and it looks different to IKEA

Pfister = expensive but some pretty nice stuff there

Countless independent shops all over Zurich = incredibly pricey who keeps them all in business?!? If you want a rug for 3000 CHF you'll have no trouble

You can find a few places (including IKEA) all together in Dietlikon/Dubendorf  area:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=furniture&sll=47.408864,8.604355&sspn=0.036246,0.087547&ie=UTF8&radius=2.05&rq=1&ev=p&ll=47.40015,8.612938&spn=0.036252,0.087547&z=14

There are a couple of very good alternatives to IKEA.

The first is a company called FLY - http://www.fly.ch  It is just down from IKEA Dietlikon - the top floor of the building in-between Quali-Pet and Coop.

The second is Migros' own store, Micasa.  They do some good stuff, and I've been to the one in the top floor of the OBI building located on the Greifensee, but I'm sure there are other Micasa's closer to Zurich. http://www.micasa.ch/

Hope that helps.

Regards,

Steve

 LIPO is another one..
http://www.lipo-
moebel.com/m/unternehmen

and as to the Brockis
(second hand stores), its worth the extra mile to go out of Zurich.(Zollikon,
Küsnacht, hell I even go to Wetzikon).
They are always much
cheaper and have a much much greater selection..  really!
