I am a member of "classic of malts" and like to test whiskies although I don't know much about them. So, I think this is a great idea!

cool well i was going to host it at mcgees pub in bahnhof wiedikon, they hace over 100 different whiskeys and have taster sessions. 5 whiskeys is 35chf and 5 more aged whiskeys for 55chf i think so would be cool to get a group together and go! what is classic of malts?

Hi Krystle,

end of november/start of december, there will be an event called the "Whiskyship", where you can sample a large amount of whisky on the ships at the Bürkliplatz. Last year, there was 3 ships, and 2 years ago 8, but including tea, chocolate, tequila etc. Highly recommended.

Another great place for Whisky is the Widder bar at the Widder Hotel in Rennstrasse. I think they have ca. 300 Whiskies there, and we have had a few whisky evenings there in the past.

Count me in. I love whisky. I challenge you that I will  be able to blind taste the most expensive you have in your collection!

Classic of Malts it's a club of whiskies offering "common" or rare whiskies that you can buy on their website. (you certainly know, Lagavullin, Dalwhinie, Talisker... you can find in supermarkets)

If you become part of the club, they are sending you then special offers for limited bottles of whiskies.

(limited editions whiskies... it's what I meant)

Great idea! Havent been to Mcgees pub. The widder bar is excellent for wiskeys, they have rare ones. Might not be the best place for a group tasting though.

sounds like fun...I've been thinking about starting an Apero Group in Geneva, you guys start one in Zurich and I'll definitely come over there....and drink with you guys

Who would be interested in a Whisky Tasting in Hohentengen, Germany ? It is 42 minutes from  ZH HB with Train (Kaiserstuhl), and then just walk ca. 1 km over the Rhine.

I was there today, and they have an amazing selection of whiskies, and with this forum thread in my mind, I asked if they do tastings too.

If we are 8 people, we can do it for EUR 25,- per person. As an added bonus, you can get the VAT back, if you buy a bottle there.

sounds cool to me, but really depends when it will happen and whether I am traveling or not.
