studying in switzerland

hi all

does anyone know how is education system working in Switzerland? i want to start studying soon and i don't know what the options are. i heard of internships, but i have no idea how and where to look for them. i want to study nursing, but i would also have to work something in the same time. so if anyone knows what would be the best solution for this, or even where to start, that would be great. any idea/suggestion is welcome! lookin forward for replies. thanks!

Hello Anita,

It depends on a lot of things so more information would help... your nationality for instance (non-eu students are not allowed to work for the first 6 months of their studies... among other things). I studied engineering so my field is kind of narrow but if you give enough details more people will be able to contribute.

Good luck!

I believe non-residents are not allowed to study medicine. I don't know about nursing though.

I think there are still restrictions for Romanian nationals concerning working permits. What I remember is that you can work up to 20 hours a week if you are a student.

Good luck!

Hi Anita,

I was in a similar situation.  I am from the US and moved here due to my wife accepting a job.  In the states I was on track to become a physician assistant (which is kind of like a doctor, but without as much school).  I tried to get into University of Zurich, but they said since I don't speak German at a C1 level, I could not get in.  They only have Masters and PHD programs in English.  I ended up finding a degree that was related to health sciences, online through a university back in the US.  Don't know if this helps, but good luck.
