The initial aim of this group is to promote the use of French as the primary form of conversation and dialogue. So if you want to speak it, already speak or simply wish to get better, or quite literally are a native francophone speaker, and wish to enjoy speaking in your mother tongue, then this is for you.
The idea of this group is not to necessarily privilege French culture or Swiss over others but to encourage people who are essentaily francophone – and there are many in the world - to share their cultural differences with each other. Given the Glocals language of choice is anglophone we wish to encourage all partisans to work on their French and dig a little deeper at improving it - which indeed can be challenging when English is all too often the medium of choice.
Unlike the groups "my English for your French and vice versa" this is more an immersion into the language and a case of my French for your better French or my French for your French French, or even the more colloquial form of my frenchie for your frenchie - but we digress.
Over and above the spoken word this is an opportunity for native speakers to create a small rebellion of Franco-Glocals and enjoy their own language, while enabling the non-francophone to get one step closer to the Swiss/French culture and identity. This is of particular importance in our view as it seems too often said that there is the expat community lives in one corner and all locals in another - so this is like check point Charlie of sorts.
Initially the gatherings or initiatives for this group will not be much different to that elsewhere within Glocals other than the language of choice being again le Français. The style will be to stay light hearted (bon vivant) and humourous, and with that work around some themes that hopefully give things a bit of a twist.
Donc venais nous rejoindre pour profiter de cet univers francophone et jouir de plaisir divers d’être parmi ceux qui pratique cette belle langue vivant.
A bientôt les amis. - Less
