I hate to write this as a follow on to my previous review but I was surprised when I went to Gabs on Saturday night.
He had an excellent pianist as a warm up but the place now seems to have gone from a cool piano bar to kareoke night.
We were 'entertained' for about an hour by one guy who didn't know the words to both songs he sung and had a voice which could strip the enamel from your teeth.
The second was someone who whispered his way through three songs and a woman who didn't seem to realise when you sing with a mike you should sing into it instead of keeping it at arms length.
Gabs did sing but by the time he started, we saw quite a few people leaving and the atmosphere was spoilt a bit by waiting and listening to Gabs wannabees.
I think the clue is in the Title of the place: GABS! That's who people come to see - NOT an audition for X Factor.
Would agree with Lokum. Just go here for the music, to relax, have a drink and to hear the man himself. What an incredible voice.
As for dinner, it's not great but there are plenty of other places nearby to eat. This is more the sort of place where you can very nicely round off an evening. (Gave 4 stars overall but would give 5 stars for Gabs himself.)

Gabs is an awesome player :) Drinks are a little overpriced but worth it considering the place is pretty and the music great.
This place is awesome and the owner is really cool guy. He knows how to entertain his customers. Sometimes the service is not top and need some improvements but to tell that the place is a rip -off is dishonest. If terry thinks that drinks are to expensive then he should go la Reserve. The songs are jazzy and if he does not like it then he should go elsewhere.
Do not go here! First the place is a rip-off. They tired to short me 10 euro, plus the drink prices are way out of line even for Geneva. Second the place is way too bright for a "jazz" bar. Three - The song selection is horrid! Since when is "Let it be" and "Always a women to me" jazz? Too bad the place is so bad - Mr. Gabs is talented but this is wasted on bad songs. Finally - The crowd there is mostly old farts! Stay away.
Great atmosphere, good music, affordable prices, of course, it helps when Gabs himself is at the piano :-)
I agree with Narcisse. I went here with some glocals not long after I came to Geneva and found the atmosphere great. It was relaxed, the music was great. The table service was quick aswell. Would definitely go back.
"Right in the heart of Geneva, in Paquis, GABS Music Lounge is a unique place combining the live music and the arts in a warm atmosphere. This place is smart, cool and relaxed where we feel well as soon as we cross the threshold of the door."
over-priced and poor atmosphere... waited more than 1 hour for a bar snack. By 11pm had still not heard a single bit of jazz or blues... the piano music was more like shopping channel live or something you hear in an elevator. Did not however, wait around for the owner's performance which may have been the redeeming feature. would be interested to hear others views
