I honestly dont like this place. It has no soul.

I feel old between all the young teenagers, ordering bottles of vodka bigger then themselfs.

There is no space, dancefloor is nearly not existing, the whole place runs on big groups of young people , all with their own tables, and outside that there is just no atmosphere at all.

Drinks are nothing special.

From time to time i end up here, and i always find myself leaving again as soon as i finished my drink.

Been a few times and always end up leaving a few mins even after one drink...I'd give it the best award for the worlds most over pretentious 'wannabe' club..... waste of time if you value your time!! one star just cos i was prompted to other wise 0.

There are many reasons to go to a club: music, atmosphere, dancing, to meet people, for good cocktails, to be seen or even just to get wasted. Java doesn't provide any of these. Coat check is 5Fr and drinks start at 10Fr for a standard bottled beer like Carlsberg, but the bar has no drink specialities and the cocktails are just thrown together in a glass - no style, no decoration. (These prices may have even been special discounted ones.) The music is hard to classify - slow dance? However, the speakers are generally small and mounted on the ceiling so it's loud but lacks bass. 3/4 of the club is sofas so I guess you don't go there to dance but if you're going there to drink then why not go somewhere where you can talk or where they have good drinks? It will certainly be cheaper. I guess it's a place to be spotted as one of Geneva's élite but Geneva is a small banking town vying with Lausanne for the crown of trendy capital of Suisse Romande - it's hardly in the same league as Milan, Berlin or Barcelona. Surely you'd be better spending the same amount as the entrance fee on an easyJet flight to Paris, Zurich or Milan if you care about being seen. Clearly some people like it here - maybe they just spent a few years in a country where alcohol and dancing are forbidden?

Why spend more for less?

After six years of going out in Geneva, discovering its MANY venues, and having fun without crying upon sight of the bill - I have put Java on my black list.

Thats a personal opinion, they have a nice venue. but for a supposedly 'high class' club it fails in many ways... what I know for sure is; the girls go there to either 'gold dig' or get free drinks (no girl ever told me she like the music there) and guys go to look at/perv on these girls... guys, strip clubs do exist in Geneva.

If you like this sort of venue - save your money and fly to London, Paris, Barcelona, Majorca, etc...

If you don't - go somewhere new! check my profile for details if ever.

I had some good nights at Java...but that was because of the company. While that is true in general, the place can still contribute to turning a good night into great one. That was not the case for Java. The level of self disrespect some women reach there is really impressive.
I'm just extremeley surprised a place like that attracted to much attention in this forum.

If you want to see some beautiful girls and a lot of green student boys, this place is for you :) But not for me...

one of the worst club ever. Places like this closed all over the world already in the 90's. Looking for something more modern.

Advantages:
Hot young girls
Cold tap water :D
DJ is ok
Very good sound
Very well decorated
Safe

Disadvantages:
Pricy
Some people dress like $%@! despite all that was written before! That never happens in really nice Moscow clubs, ever.
Not the best place to go dance

"a so-so club with few trendy fashionistas, who still fail to understand that juxtaposing a dress to a club, as well as indulging in bottles of alcohol, doesn't get you into smart badasses; though personnel is nice; musci so-so; get too hot unbreathable after first 2 hours"

"For me the venue and the music is important and Java has got all that! I appreciate that people make an effort to dress nicely when going out! And witha few good friends you can have a lot of fun! I must agree with some of you that sometimes even I feel old and excuse me for ''only''being 20! But I don't wanna party with 14y/o girls... and call me naive... but if guys wanna 'buy' a girl and a girl wanna be 'bought', please do it somewhere where I don't have to look at it...
All in all a cool place!"

"Java is a posh place.
Full of fils a papa and teenagers ==> In fact Java is limit illegal.
But the DJ is good.
You can have nice time in Java if you take a bottle and ready to spend money this nigh( 100chf or more).
Otherwise, why do guys go there ?: Because all despite written below the girls who go there are very well dressed and sexy (but almost untouchable). If you can afford to pays drinks, you will feel like james Bond for 1night."

"5 months ago I would have given this place 5 stars, but the quality and innovation have been somewhat lackluster of late. How many times can you hear Bob Sinclair singing about the love generation? While true it is a bit snobbish, these people are so stuck on themselves they really don't pay attention to anyone else. Bottle sharing is great and the service that comes with it is on par. Let's hope they hire a new DJ soon because even I'm getting bored of hearing Justin Timberlake's sexyback..."

"Lots of teens, but that's always been the curse of clubs in GVA. Great staff. Don't act surprised by the prices, you know you're going there for a reason. Missing a je ne sais quoi to be in line with the few great spots GVA has known."

"This is my persona view on Java and from my other review you should get that i am more of a laid back gal, this is why I go to Java only when I am already drunk (a lot) and with some friends.Music is ok but not exceptional, drinks are ridicolously expensive, you get in or not based on ur attitude (show off and look bitchy ladies!), people are there to see and be seen. Great for a decadent night. Not my place for when i really wanna dance, if you move too much you don't look cool and .. you get weird looks"

"Decadent Geneva at its best. Outrageous, unrestrained and very loud. Leave your self-consciousness at the door and enjoy. It's definitely more expensive than the Usine but then you're getting a whole different level of comfort. Avoid the high prices at the bar by sharing a bottle with friends - you'll save quite a bit. Head for the beds for the most fun and go on Fridays if you want a mid to late 20s crowd."

"OK, this is 100% my own view, and I know many people who love Java, but I got to say: it's just not my thing.

For starters: it's too much about money and show, and too little about just having fun: you got to pay CHF 30 for a drink, you got to dress like you're going to a ball, and to feel at home you have to smoke a cigar. When I go clubbing, I like to feel a bit more relaxed.
For seconders: the ages, on many weekends, are just too young.

But I got to say the place is well decorated, the staff is pro, the music ain't bad, and the people are good looking."

"If your going to the Java club, don't go there penny pinching. Buy a bottle, get a table and be treated like a king. Bought my last bottle in Sept/06. Its still going strong. Now its Feb/07. I have to admitt thats its more fun getting a table outside of the VIP.
Much more fun. The service, well it varies on how full they are, but if you are planing to go to the Java club, don't let time pass you by, as I have heard rumors that the Hotel no longer wants a discotech in it and is thinking to close the Java club down soon."
