Service has gotten better over time, however, they can be quite rude when it comes to returns -- even the following day! I had to insist upon getting a cash refund when they only wanted to give me store credit.
I would not buy English-language books there. I would go to Off-the-Shelf, order online or look for books at the Salvation Army on Route de Chêne...

love payot, I buy all my books there, if you don't find your book, you need to order and they will inform you as soon as they receive, the price is little bit more expensive than France.
I also do love Payot, although the english sector is more filled with romances than non-fiction. But for a city with not so many options in big libraries, this one is great.
The most known bookstore in Geneva and West Switzerland. The store in 5 Rue Chantepoulet has the largest collection of English books. The other stores in Geneva are in 16 Rue du Marché and at the Cointrin Airport (near the Migros). Recommended for your reading pleasure!
