L'usine should not be considered a Club - Its a multipurpose concert venue with two floors.

The style of music, set up of the venue and entry prices change every night - check usine.ch before planning a night.

I personally have seen amazing bands, performers and dj's there - at 15-25chf entry - where to have seen the same show in London or even L'arena would have meant a higher cost.

The crowd can be skin-heads, rastafaris, electro fans, or even old rockers - really depends on the night and who's playing - weekends it gets packed... normally with local school and university students (ages 16-24). But still fun.

This is a venue that is needed in Geneva, and they have tried to shut it down several times. If you want to know what the youth of Geneva are doing, go to l'Usine.

Perfect place if you're fed up with the always-the-same commercial music. And stop complaining about not meeting locals in Geneva - go to Usine!

"I was there only once, but that was enough. A collection of heavy metal kids, punk rocker teens, and tatooed skin heads. Maybe it was just the one night I decided to go there, but I got to call what I see."

"My feelings about L'usine depend a lot about my mood, that's why i don't go there often. The place is dirty, sweaty, messy, punk, grunge or techno, with an edgy crowd. But, if you like Rock,Punk, or ska music, want to let off some steem and are fed up of the posh club scene in town is virtually the only place to go in Geneva. I have those 'i wanna go back to a 'real' place like the ones i used to go as a student, and just enjoy. And that's the palce for it. Don't go if what you like in a club is the decor, comfy sofas, posh atmoshpere, you'll hate it."

"Visit it selectively. The Zoo upstairs has a solid line-up of electro and drum n bass and probably has one of the best sound and graphics setups in town. It's cleaner and better organised than downstairs but don't expect the Java. Entry is usually 15 francs and beers 3. Overall, the Usine gets some big international names from the UK and elsewhere, which is rare for this city, where a top DJ is usually someone from Paris. Think Roni Size, Metalheadz and the like. This place does what it does well."

"Dirty, dark, & drunken dancing... You won't find any international professional types here. Great unpretentious place to boire un verre with local punks, squatters & socialists - Get to know the Geneva underground scene and practice your French!"

"every time i've been to l'Usine, i've had a great time! but then maybe that's because it was always for 80's nights... i've only ever been upstairs, so i can't comment about downstairs.

but, cheap place, cheap drinks (not like everywhere else in GVA)."

"Well, being the alternative spot in Geneva, Usine is surelly one of the most controverted places in Geneva.

I have to admit that sometimes (most of the times?) it is just like hell... young and weird crowd, the dirtiest toilet ever, horrible/strange music, fights....

But sometimes it is just what you needed to get off the local posh club scene... come as you are policy, cheap bear, open until 5am, stylish and creative people and different kind of music...."
