Going east for Easter: Vorarlberg
Saturday, April 20th, 2019 @ 13:00
Chur, Geneva
If anyone hasn't made plans for Easter yet, would you like to head east one more time?
After visiting Slovenia, Bayern, Tyrol and Carinthia over the past years, the idea is to remain faithful to the "East for Easter" tagline, while not going too far (after all, we only have 3 days' time)
Let's then head to the smallest Austrian region: Vorarlberg. The area may not have vibrant cities to offer, in fact it's mostly known for its wilderness. Its most famous attraction is the "Bregenzwald" which, despite the name, is more than just a forest: with high mountains, rolling hills, Alpine lakes and gorges carved by the Bregenz Ach river, there's plenty of landscape variety to choose from.
As for where to stay, we decided to spend the first night in Chur, in Graubunden, and the second night in Feldkirch.
A rough program could be:
Saturday 20
Check-in in Chur and have a walk in the old town, hike up to Lucy Chapel and possibly to the Mittenberg peak
Sunday 21
Check-in in Feldkirch and probably have a day trip to Bregenz, so as to explore Bregenzwald (the other possibility is catching a train to Dornbirn and hike in the Rappenlochschlucht)
Monday 22
Explore Feldkirch (castle, Katzenturm, the wild park), then head back to Chur slightly before 2pm.
As usual, depending on where you are and how much holiday you have, feel free to come for 1-2-3 days!
