Free hikes on the Saleve
Sunday, April 21st, 2024 @ 09:30
Veyrier-Douane, Geneva
Every Sunday, we meet up at 9:40 am at the terminus of TPG bus 8 in Veyrier-Douane (we wait for the bus 8 leaving Gare Cornavin at 9:19 am). A representative of the Association Genevoise des Amis du Saleve will welcome you in any weather. No need to register, just show up.
Depending on the number of volunteer guides present, several itineraries may be proposed. Expect 2-4 hours of ascent at a steady pace (850 meters of altitude gain more or less far from the starting point), plus almost 2 hours of descent (or you can get back down by cable car).
A good physical condition is essential. You will need proper hiking shoes (no sandals, flip-flops etc.), hat and sunscreen, rainproof jacket, hiking poles (optional), some money, and your passport as the Saleve is in France. Bring a picnic and enough water; there is no drinking water along the hiking paths.
