Free hikes on the Saleve
Sunday, April 28th, 2024 @ 09:30
Veyrier-Douane, Geneva
Every Sunday, we meet up at 9:45 am at the terminus of TPG bus 8 in Veyrier-Douane (we wait for the bus 8 leaving Gare Cornavin at 9:19 am -- in fact, most of us are in it). No need to register, just show up.
Depending on the number of volunteer guides present, several itineraries may be proposed. Expect 2-4 hours of ascent at a steady pace (850 meters of altitude gain more or less far from the starting point), plus almost 2 hours of descent (or you can get back down by cable car).
A good physical condition is essential. You will need proper hiking shoes (no sandals, flip-flops etc.), hat and sunscreen, rainproof jacket, hiking poles (optional), some money, and your passport as the Saleve is in France. Bring a picnic and enough water; there is no drinking water along the hiking paths.
