Stroll along the Laire: meet at Stand 09h55
Sunday, May 12th, 2024 @ 10:00
, Geneva
The weather forecast for coming Sunday is good, so let's stroll! This time, we will discover the southern border of the Canton and cross into neighbouring France. A good part of the walk will be in the forest, but there are also open parts.
We will meet at tram stop 14 at Stand, direction Bernex at 09h55 sharp and then take tram 14 until stop Croisée de Confignon. From there we take bus L leaving at 10h31. We get off at Sezegnin at 10h52.
We will go through open terrain and some wineyards to Veigy, where we cross the bridge and the border. We continue westwards through Malagny, with views over the Jura. We go through the Tuilière valley and cross the Laire again, towards the vilage of Avusy. From Avusy onwards, we will take a path to Sezegnin, from where we take the bus back to Geneva.
The walk is about 11 km and almost flat. Though it is not difficult, slippers or high heels are not recommended.
As we cross the border, you need formally to have your passport or ID on you. We will have a picnic on the way, so take food and drinks along - plus something to sit upon. We will take it easy and walk for about 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Expect to be back in town by 14h30-15h00.
Please register only if you are sure to attend!
cheers,
Bert
