The weather looks not too bad for Sunday; with some chance of rain showers but it should get better from mid-morning. So we are hiking from Beaumont (France) to the Fête de la Thuile; a small annual countryside festival with food stalls, music and some info about the Saleve at a converted old farm building on the southern part of the Saleve.

Meet up 8:30 at Lancy-Bachet, at the bus stop "H" opposite the Leman Express station (a plan is here: https://www.tpg.ch/sites/default/files/arrets_plan_de_connexion/BHET_20251210.pdf). We will be taking bus 272 at 8:45 and get off at Beaumont-Le Châble (tpg zone 230). From there we make our way up to the Chartreuse du Pomier - a former Carthusian monastery - and then further up the mountain to La Thuile.

Distance: 16km; altitude gain: 750m, descent: 900m. (For those who are not familiar with hiking: that is quite a lot.) The way down is over some quite steep forest paths to Croix-de-Rozon (CH). Note that we will be far from the cable car, so you have to walk down. A good physical condition is essential. You will need proper hiking shoes, hat, sunglasses and sunscreen, a wind-/rainproof jacket, and hiking poles (optional). Take some money, and your passport as the Saleve is in France. Bring enough water; there is no drinking water along the hiking paths. Also take a picnic, or at least some snacks to keep you going on the way up.

Expect to be back at Croix de Rozon by about 17:30 at the latest. From there you have buses 82 to Lancy-Bachet every 30 minutes and 44 to Carouge every hour (see https://www.tpg.ch/fr/voyager/planifier-votre-voyage/itineraires).
