Evening hike up the Salève + optional dinner
To take advantage of these long summer days, I intend to go for a hike up the Salève in the evening on Thursday the 3rd of July.
The destination will be the téléphérique upper station, which is also the site of the "Horizon" restaurant. On a clear day, the view of Geneva and Lake is breathtaking!
The plan:
- meet up near the Veyrier douane by 18:30 at the latest (actually in the car park on the FRENCH side, near the childrens playground)
- a leisurely hike up (so as to not arrive all sweaty!) to arrive at the téléphérique upper station by around 20:30.
- optional dinner at the Horizon restaurant, menu: http://www.horizon-saleve.com/
- take the cable car back down afterwards to Etrembières (a few minutes walk from the Veyrier douane). The last cable car is at 23:00.
It should be noted that this is nevertheless a serious hike and you need to have an appropriate level of fitness and be appropriately dressed (including hiking boots or runners). Also as with all mountain & outdoor activities there is an element of danger, participation is entirely at your own risk.
Anyone wishing to join me, please send me a message (please also indicate if you'll be staying for the dinner). I do want to keep the group relatively small to keep things manageable, ie max 8-10 people.
It should be fun!
In case of bad weather we can either cancel, or go up by cable car instead, but hopefully we won't need to think about that in more detail!
