Evian - Ouchy Full Moon stand up paddle night crossing

Sunday, September 7th, 2025 @ 22:00
Evian les Bains - Ouchy, Lausanne
Update - we are meeting at Ouchy ferry terminal Sunday at 19:45. This is the last ferry to Evian leaving 20:00. Weather window seems OK. We arrive in Evian at 20:35, pump gear and start. We are a group of 5 so far.
We'll be crossing Lac Leman from France to Switzerland on the 7th of September under a full moon (Harvest Moon). This is a 13-14km crossing that will take 3-3.5hr to complete. We should hit the water in Evian around 21:00. We get to Evian by ferry from Ouchy. This is not a race, just a chill and fun crossing, weather dependent. Mandatory equipment : ID, SUP, SUP leash, name/address/phone tag on your board, life vest, white light. Recommended extras: paddle leash, hydration, snacks, drinks, boombox, Celine Dion CD's, appropriate clothing for wet/dry condition. Very important - no headlamps worn on head on the water. If you don't have a white light and want to use your headlamp, find a suitable fixed location to attach it to your body (thigh?). We take a break half way to enjoy some snacks, chitchat, howl and marvel at the moon. The moon will be roughly behind us on the crossing. You must plan your return home from around 02:00 (bike?). This event is free to join, not professionally organized, you are responsible for your own safety. Extra bonus - lunar eclipse !
