Once again, it's that time of the year when we start dreaming of snowy Xmas markets and warm mugs of glühwein: shall we organize our traditional early December journey to southern Germany?

Given the many railway disruptions (both the Freiburg-Basel and the Donaueschingen-Stuttgart lines are having issues), this year we would like to stick to the route that looks safer... moreover as we never got to visit the Xmas markets in the Bodensee/Lake Konstanz area.

The rough plan then is to be based in Singen for the first 2 nights... then somewhere between Uberlingen and Friedrichshafen for the 3rd night. Both bases will provide us with a useful train/bus pass: in Singen we can benefit from the West Bodensee Karte, which will allow us to do Xmas market hopping from the German towns of Radolfzell and Konstanz to the Swiss fairy town of Stein Am Rhein ( https://www.maerlistadt.ch ).

On the other hand, the Echt Bodenseekarte will allow us to explore Lindau, Friedrichshafen and Ravensburg, the world capital of board games and puzzles.

As usual, we'll try to combine sightseeing with hiking, weather permitting, as well as paying a visit to Zurich opera house's special Advent calendar show on December 9th.

Rough plan:
December 6 - Konstanz
December 7 - Stein am Rhein in the morning, Radolfzell in the afternoon, Uberlingen in the evening
December 8 - Hegau volcanoes in the morning, Ravensburg (or Lindau) in the late afternoon
December 9 - Friedrichshafen in the morning, Zurich in the afternoon (for the Advent calendar show at the Opera house)
