Book selection: On Memory
Tuesday, September 13th, 2022 @ 19:00
Maison des Associations, rue des Savoises 15, Geneva 1205, Geneva
Literature is simultaneously vehicle, medium, preserver, and occasionally betrayer of memory.
Memory is the natural subject of most novels since the authors compose them from the detritus of their own experience, but also because the form is a genre of nostalgia, on rumminating on what happened in the (imagined) past.
Vlad will be leading the selection process on books concerned more explicitly with the topic of Memory (or its maleability, endurance or loss); we will then vote and chose one for our next discussion meeting.
Location: Maison des Associations, salle Albert Jacquard
Presenter: Vlad
Starting time: 7:15 PM
Format:
Part 1: presenter(s) provide a short overview of the pre-selected books, highlighting some of the reviews and critics and other relevant background. Members who have read any of the books can contribute.
Part 2: participants are invited to introduce any book that they would like to recommend and provide a short overview thereof (on a voluntarily basis).
Part 3: participants vote to select the book to be discussed in one of the upcoming book discussion meetings.
