Crossing Pointe Percée 2750m
Sunday, October 23rd, 2022 @ 07:30
Haute-Savoie, Geneva
On Sunday October 23, if the weather is ok, I organize a hike to the Pointe Percée 2750. we will cross the summit via Chimneys of Sallanches.
The highest and the most prestigious peak of Aravis chain, the Pointe Percée, despite its relative difficulty to climb, is very popular.
Wikipedia: « The Pointe Percée (lit.: pierced point) is the highest mountain in the Aravis range of the French Prealps in Haute-Savoie. It rises to 2753 meters and has 1643 m of prominence, and is thus is classified as an ultra prominent peak. Its first documented climb was by M. L. Maquelin of Geneva in 1865, though it was likely climbed much earlier. »
We start from Col des Annes (Grand Bornand). After the refuge of Gramusset we go up to Col des Verts. We climb from there the 2 chimneys of Sallanches and through the edges and rocky passages we will arrive on the summit ridge, a few meters before the summit.
Down by normal way.
Most of this route is rocky. Ascend the Pointe Percée requires some experiences and endurance. You have to not be dizzy.
Elevation gain: 1100 m. Distance: 10 km. For experimented and sporty hikers.
