Tuesday, May 26th, 2026 @ 10:00
, Geneva
This walk will take us through the Bois de Chancy, at the southwestern point of the Canton of Geneva and of Switzerland.
It starts and ends at Chancy Douane. Participants that live in central Geneva meet at platform 2 of Cornavin railway station and take the 10h01 train to Lancy-Pont-Rouge (1 stop). From there we go to platform C on the Rampe du Pont Rouge (towards Lancy, at the right) and take bus 42 at 10h16, arriving at Chancy-Douane at 10h49. For times and connections see https://www.tpg.ch/
If you come by car, you can park at Chancy-Pougny railway station in Pougny, just across the bridge over the Rhône. Be there around 10h50.
We will walk along the Rhône and through the forest to border post no. 1. We go to the Longet Valley with a wooden bridge of 45 metres long. We make our way up and down through the forest, arriving at the picnic place Racelets. From there we continue through more open terrain to Chancy.
The walk is about 10 km long and has a gradient (uphill-downhill) of 250 metres.
We will have a picnic on the way - take food and drinks along, plus something to sit upon.
This walk is organised in collaboration with the hiking association Oxygène74 https://www.randonneeoxygene74.com/.
