Guided Tour : A Zigzag Stroll Through Carouge

Sunday, June 10th, 2012 @ 14:00
We will all meet right in front of the Sainte-Croix Church located on Place du Marche, Geneva
** Carouge: A pathway through history, tales and streets **
Hi everyone,
A microcosm with a thousand facets, the Sardinian town reveals little by little its secrets: the name of a street which evokes a past full of history, a garden or a courtyard discovered by pushing a door, a temple with magnificent carved woodworks and frescos, newly restored.
This surprising protestant church is an incredible contrast with the sobriety of the catholic church painted in white. Again, Carouge does not follow common lines.
A visit which is a taste of things to come…
Here are some of the things that we will visit and discover:
- Sainte-Croix Church on Place du Marche
- Protestant Temple of Carouge on Place du Temple
- Squares, places favored for gatherings and activities, represent the heart of a town. Carouge's squares cannot be ignored.
- Carouge and its hidden gardens: Behind the neatly restored façades, an unexpected world is opening in front of us: a small world, typically “carougeois”, which allows us to penetrate its mystery and welcomes us kind-hearted and somewhat mischievously.
We push a door and suddenly we take the time to inhale the perfume of the roses, of the old lilac, or to glance with a hint of nostalgia at the old bicycle leaning against the wall.
- Museum of Carouge
- A walk through Carouge
We will also go for drinks and nice French pastries at the best French bakery of Geneva which is in Carouge and for those who want to extend their time in Carouge, we could also stay there for dinner.
