Adolf Hitler: My Part in His Downfall by Spike Milligan, 1971. The first of Spike Milligan's war autobiographies, spanning the period from Great Britain's declaration of war on Germany to the allied invasion of North Africa. While providing interesting and authentic insights into the experiences of a World War Two draftee, this is also one of the funniest books ever written. Milligan was an accomplished musician, author, poet, comedian and environmental activist. He is regarded by many as one the most influential figures in UK comedy and as a severe sufferer of bipolar disorder, he wrote candidly about mental illness during a time when no-one else dared.
