walking visit of the old town
Sunday, July 9th, 2017 @ 14:00
Place neuve in front of parc des Bastions, Geneva
Walking around the old town and visiting the different historical monuments , I am a historian; I will guide you around the fascinating history of our city, which obviously has a big part in the old town.
The cathedral “saint Pierre”:important for the history of mankind, as it was one of the important points of the protestant Reformation. As Geneva was called the “protestant Rome”.
The "saint-Gervais" church which goes back to the 4th
Also the first place ( an evangelical church) where was the first idea of helping the wounded soldiers (even before Henri Dunant!),
The historical and secret house of Jean Calvin which was such an important figure in the Reformation
The house of the Genevan gentleman who wrote the American constitution (yes, one of the main writers of the American constitution was Genevan!)
Visit maison Tavel (will be free for us)
