Anyone want to play Heidi (or Peter!) in the beautiful mountains and woodlands of Gstaad?.

Accessible by train AND one of the most beautiful train journeys in Switzerland - all aboard the Goldenpass Panoramic Train!

BASIC INFO:

Total Hiking Time: 4-5 hours (including stop for a picnic lunch)
Elevation: Approx 260 metres up – 400 metres down
Difficulty: Energetic - Some steep cardio bits, but mainly hiking through pastureland and woodland. We will be walking at a good pace, so a good level of hiking fitness essential.

ROUTE DETAIL:

Starting in the village of Gstaad, we take the Wispile cable car up to 1911 metres. From there, we hike up another 260 metres to the Chrinepass, then down through woodland and mountain pastures to Lauenensee to stop by the beautiful lake for a quick coffee (or a swim!).

Then a short hike down to Launen where we can catch the bus back to Gstaad or walk another 45 mins if time allows.

GETTING THERE:

Train departs LAUSANNE at 09h20 (Change at Montreux)
Train departs MONTREUX at 09h44 Platform 5 (This is where I will be)
Arrives GSTAAD at 11h03.

09h30 to 09h40 - Platform 5 - MONTREUX
11h10 - Tourist Information Office - GSTAAD

Come out of the railway station at Gstaad, walk 10 metres ahead to the main pedestrian street, turn right and the tourist office is 100m on your right.

Money & GA or Demi-tarrif Abonnement (valid on the cable car)
Good Hiking/Walking Shoes – no flip flops or town shoes.
Suitable clothing – check the weather and come prepared
