I am new here to Glocals and to Switzerland.  Moved from the big 'ol rotten apple (NYC)

One of the things i miss the most...watching my baseball and basketball games

Anyone know of a bar/lounge/sports bar in Lausanne or Geneva maybe where i can get my daily drug addict dose of american sports?  Its nearing playoffs for both and i'm itching to catch a good game.

Also, i am very active...how about a game of softball or wiffleball or baseball?  What about local teams or leagues i can join to play in...anyone know of one?  Pretty please with cherries on top  !

Hello Jess, Sorry I can't help you with your sports enquiry but I saw in another post that you are Boricua...Hola!  I used to live in Puerto Rico (loved it) and am so missing the food and the lifestyle.  Welcome to Switzerland.  Drop me a line sometime if you fancy scrabbling a few folks together for a good Puerto Rican meal - I'd be happy to do my part.  I even make coquito every Christmas.

Chocolate egg cram you say?  Never heard of it, what is it?

You are gonna want to head to Mr. Pickwicks, which as far as I know is the only place that carries all North American sports. I watched the NFL playoffs there last season and it was great, they even set up giant screens downstairs to watch, it was great. Good luck

Baseball, hotbogs on the BBQ and French's Mustard sound like a winning combination. Is there a mustard brand that is close to generic French's?

As much as I suck at baseball I'd come out to a game and pretend like I know what's going on!

If you want to start an informal softball game/practice/hang out and watch games thing let me know. I definitely miss hitting a ball around. Oh and about the mustard, you can buy it at the American Food store in Geneva. I can't remember the address but I'll try to find it for you.

Hey Brit,

Yes, i've already been looking into it.  After searching a few of the already established baseball teams here i've noticed that they are all either too far away (especially for someone taking public transportation like me) or just too costly.

I will keep you posted but i am thinking of having something start sometime next month.

Jess

For Baseball/Softball it could be interesting to help with kids starting to learn. My 6 year has started to play T-Ball with Geneva BAseball http://www.genevabaseball.ch/home.html they practice and play every Saturday morning at Vessy. For adults there is http://www.genevadragons.com/

Yea, already checked out the genevadragons which practice twice a wk (tues & thurs) but the fee is 400 CHF...OUCH!!!

My idea is to play once a wk (no fee for anyone to play).  It will be an informal game, just pure fun!  There will be food and drinks...i think i will make it a potluck type thing so that there will be no fee but everyone is required to bring something.  Everyone will send me a list of what they will bring and i can make sure there is a bit of something for everyone.  Then, we all play for just fun.  Will be a social thing.

Hi Jess. I won't get to Geneva until September but then I'll definitely be looking for a place to watch baseball playoffs/football season. Let me know if you find a good one!
