Well the obvious place to start is Pickwick in rue de Lausanne.

Also check out the Irish pubs, Britannia pub (opposite Cornavin station), the Clubhouse in Paquis.

Plenty of free gigs, mainly on weekends, mostly starting in September.

A tip for newbies: please do a little searching on the forums before asking, these questions come up quite often in different forms.

One I know of and really like is "The Scene" in plainpalais. It must be closed nw and will open in September. They play different sorts of music including rock.

Their usual format is jamming sessions, some of which turn out real good.

The Usine is the most common place for real Rock concerts. L'Ecurie often has some good stuff going on as well.

Pickwick and Clubhouse have mostly cover bands and that kind of stuff that make me run for the door as quickly as I can.

7 Arts bar has regular bands... its in paquis (rue Montheux).

I believe those clubs like Usine is closed during the summer season but I must say Usine has a great dj/band/music schedule. Can't wait to see what they are bringing this Autumn.

L'Usine is undoubtedly the place for gigs in my eyes, they have different sections of the building having different events.

The KAB - mainly bands, the occasional DJ and PTR - mainly DJ's, overall quite a cool place, with the awesome people

Interesting topic. I've just arrived in Geneva, and was looking for a few places with some decent music as well. Incidentally; if any music-lovers out there feel like meeting up for drinks & music...

Nice! And here I was thinking Geneva was going to be a touch boring :) I'm taking it easy this weekend though. Just arrived, had a busy couple of days and need to move apparments on monday. Going to relax and get some extra sleep. For next weekend though; I'm game for a night on the town..
