Ski du fond / cross-country skiing

Hello everyone!

I'd love to start cross-coutry skiing (never done it before), but don't know where to start.

Can anyone suggest a good place near Lausanne (or easily reachable by train), where I could rent the equipment and have a lesson, or at least a quick introduction?

Maybe somebody would like to join? :-)

Thanks in advance!

Ewa

I had a lesson a few years ago at Les Diablerets.  The trails are quite nice and pretty much flat.  I would suggest here.

Les pleiades above Vevey has a short easy route - don't know about the possibility of lessons there but reachable by train.  There is also a harder 'red' and a more difficult 'black'

Also the Vallee de Joux has a lot of trails.  Les Charbonnieres and Le Brassus are possible by train.  Here is good also.

Hi there,

Regarding ski de fond at Les Pleaides, you can log on the website and you'll find all the informations you need : price, tracks, etc. You can reach les Pleiades easily by train. That being said, check the snow report befor you go, because lack of snow is frequent...

From Lausanne, you can reach easily Villars as well and you'll find lots of tracks over there and you'll be sure to find snow.
