Meteor Shower by Epicure... :)
 Absolutely ACE!  :o)
About 15 of us congregated on top of the Signal de Bougy (nr. Aubonne),  spread ourselves out on picnic blankets and waited for the sun to go down, allowing for the numerous planets and stars to fill the cloudless sky... We weren't disappointed!
We saw so many shooting stars (that we all lost count!) and a few 'fireballs' streaking slowly across the sky - amongst satellites - with 'Ooohs' & 'Ahhhhs' every few minutes!  It was truly magical and one even seemed to 'stop' on course and then explode - just like a firework!  Brilliant!
On the stroke of 12, two shooting stars flashed by as people sang 'happy birthday' to me (yup, I'm celebrating the 20th anniversary of my 20th birthday! ;o))... What an excellent way to start the 13th Aug; one which I definitely won't forget!
All in all, an excellent night out... loads of laughs... lots of shooting stars... and unbelievable quantities of astrological information (Altair78 & co. + Epicure).
Thanks for putting this together Epicure, you're a star!  ;o))  J.

Hi guys,

Thanks for a great night out with the stars... saw quite a few more during the "little hours"
but not many biggies.

I did put in a few hours of sleep and made my way down to "civilisation" at sunrise just before six.

cheers,

Bert

You didn't see anything due to the city's light pollution... We were on the ground looking
straight up with 360° of clear sky to watch.  You should have come mate, it was
fantastic!
We left just before 1am, as the half-moon came up and it was
shining so brightly that it made the stars difficult to see... :o)  J.
