Poetry Reading, "My Soul on a Platter", 31st March

Thank you Sreyashi for this incarnadine evening of words, light, sensations, materials, ideas, and above all your warm enthusiasm to share the launch of your second book with us.

Although words and colours are part of everyone's life, defining them is not easy. Your poetry makes a raid on the inarticulate interconnection between words and colour as a material, a light and a sensation.

Many thanks for this rare experience and special evening.

Thank you for your support. I was certainly glad to see so many people come to my poetry reading and the room was filled with people deeply interested in what I had to say. Some of the Geneva Poets Group members were also present. It was a wonderful experience sharing my poems, my thoughts, my inspirations with everyone. As an artist, as a poet it is always useful to get some feedback and positive criticism. I learnt a lot from this evening. I had a great time reading out my work and talking about my art and my poems. The poem "Return of the bride" had many questions as reactions to the tone of the poem and the mood it was set in. Then I was asked as to who were the other writers/poets/artists I drew inspiration from. It was my favourite question for the evening, there are just so many artists, singers, musicians, writers, poets who are my inspiration other than Tagore. This was a great platform where I could talk about my concept of "Words and Colours".OfftheShelf, was a cozy venue. I spoke about  a specific painting of Frieda Kahlo an inspiration for "This pain is killing me like poisoning" which was also published in Geneva Times in 2009.I was very touched as someone came from really far to attend my poetry reading evening. "Dream traders" was a recent poem I wrote and it was received well. I hope there is a second part to this"Words and Colours" soon and I could share more of my work.

It was a great pleasure to attend Sreyashi's poetry reading from "My soul on a platter" and discover her sensitive yet powerful art. Sreyashi introduced us to the wide spectrum of her creative activities, in which poetry and graphical art resonate and grow from each other. She has a complex, generous and evolving artistic nature that revolves around essential  aspects of human nature such as "eros" and "tanatos".  In her poetry she is not afraid to explore and question the bleak part of existence, to which she courageously opposes her sensibility, genuineness and inner spiritual strength.  I find Sreyashi's art inspiring and I am looking forward for future readings.

Thank you Sreyashi for your invitation to your reading and for sharing your art with us.

Thank you for the reading Sreyashi. I must be honest regarding my English, it is not so efficient to catch subtleties and profoundness of your words. But from your emotion and I can see that you travel from the deepest to the highest of the human soul. It’s great to have sensitive travelers of the human soul, bringing back images of what they are witnessing. Thank you for being part of them and bringing your singularity.

At some occasion, we could try a first draft of a French translation.

All the best to you.

Thank you for your kind comments Rene. I am glad I could convey my thoughts, emotions and feelings to you through my poems. Indeed, it has been on my mind to translate the poems into French; but have'nt found anyone yet to sit down and translate it with. I would love that.
