I think you have it spot on :-)
I think JR insulting the United states of America is inapropriate in Glocals and insulting.
Considering your country of Mexico, where many of Mexico citizens are escaping/crossing the boarder illegally into the USA for ? Work?
I dont know of anyone trying to cross into Mexico except Retirement/retirees and criminals excaping into mexico.
Dont insult the USA as a Cloud Cuckoo Land because it is still one of the best countries in the world where many people dream of working, traveling/holidays and living there.

Aside from the spat between JR M and Dave G, as a younger man I used to dream of working and traveling to the USA, and I did - first on holidays and eventually to live and work - and I thought it was fantastic. My whole view on the USA changed over the 8 years of George W Bush and I am absolutely sure many, many sensible people around the globe have changed their opinions also due to this man.
However let us remember that whilst of course a poulation is responsible for electing it's leader in a democracy (although I will hear question marks being raised given the circumstance of Bush's election), quite often the majority actually voted for someone else. Therefore I do not aim my frustrations at a population but at governments.
There are of course great things about the USA, the UK - my home country - and I am sure about Mexico.

Mine was a comment on the prevailing mindset of those running the country, for God's Sake, and those in the general population who are, at least, allowing it to set direction. Part of the mindset I find abhorrent (and self-defeating, ironically) is the tendency to generalize, to accept divisions between people as if we were not all part of humanity and if there were no differences and diversity within every society, every group within it, and last time I checked, even within families.

The red chicken from Cloud Cukoo Land, of course. He is expressing how he feels. Anonymously, of course.

Sadly this is the first post on Glocals where contributors end up slanging each other. I left "the other forum" because of the horrendous back-biting, clever-clever attitudes and downright rude comments. Such a pity that those type of comments have now surfaced here on Glocals.
